First creative workshops for children „Open the world for opportunities and skills”

On January 18, this year the first creative workshops in the framework of the culturally educational activities cycle for children „Open the world for opportunities and skills” took place. The aim of the activity is to promote interest in children about culture, different professions, and crafts, develop and improve abilities of emotional and artistic expressing, develop social communication and emotional world of children.

During the activities the children have opportunity to watch different Latvian animated cartoons and later obtain new experience and develop their artistic skills in the creative workshops. This time the children made each own pillow, acquiring different handicraft techniques and skills. At the end of the project everybody will be able to see the exhibition of the created works „My dear pillow.” In the animation workshop the children made animation cartoon about the theme „The good around us” with their drawings. In the singing workshop children learned sonorous and beautiful songs with movements and dance elements. These songs and movements will be heard and seen in the project’s half-year concluding concert. After the creative workshops all the participants went to excursion to see the most interesting places in the Riga Latvian Society House. 

All the children, specially children from children’s homes, children with special needs or functional disorders, children and youth from low-income families, Strazdumuiža Boarding school - development centre for the visually impaired and blind children, Oskars Kalpaks Elementary School of National Arts and Crafts and children from Latvian Foster Family Society are welcome to the activities cycle „Open the world for opportunities and skills”.

All are welcome to join. The next activities will take place on February 1st in the Riga Latvian Society House. The beginning of the workshops is at 11.00.
