Ramave for a long time kept secret narration by Astrīde Ivaska
The organisation Ramave existed from 1929 to 1940 in Latvia before the war with 70 members and since 1950s - outside Latvia in Latvian exile (number of members approached almost 200).It organised reading events, published writing collections, promoted researching and social work of philology and other sphere students and those, who had finished studies.
«Ramave, as an active Latvian philologists, philosophers and academically educated linguists organisation, considered creative work in humanitarian science and art fields as the most important, at the same time promoting friendship between the members following their motto Friendship, Efforts, Work! Kārlis Zvejnieks wrote in the newspaper Jaunā Gaita (New Course) No. 123, 1979.
We invite everyone to visit the reading about organisation Ramave on 6 January, 2014 at 18.00 in the RLS House, Merķeļa Street 13 that will be given by its member in post-war period - Astrīde Ivaska. A. Ivaska has obtained degree of philology science candidate at Marburg University in Germany; has published poetry collections, translated from several languages, worked in magazine redactions, also as a librarian and teacher in the USA.
