The Riga Latvian Society’s retired teachers’ vocal ensemble „Saskaņa”
Artistic leader Egils Norbūts

The retired teachers’ ensemble was established in 1978. The name “Saskaņa” it received in 1988.  The ensemble consists of 12 singers. Its creative plans the ensemble regularly carries out at the Riga Retired teachers’ club. The ensemble has regular concerts in old people’s homes and museums, as well as at friends in Jelgava, Jaunjelgava and Vilce. The ensemble has developed close cooperation with Jelgava’s vocal ensemble “Evening’s Wind” and Jaunjelgava’s vocal ensemble “Harmony”.

The ensemble’s repertoire is varied: from folk songs to classical and sacred music. The singers regularly make thematic events with large concerts that are devoted to the composers’ works, for example, Valters Kaminskis, Elga Īgenberga, Arvīds Žilinskis, writers, for example, R.Blaumanis, V.Artavs, E.Zālīte, different celebrated holidays and the club’s participants, whose anniversaries are celebrated.
