«30 years later. „The last word“ by Gunārs Astra. What has changed? In Riga and Latvian language? »

The RLS Latvian Language Advancement Group offers to all interests publicist’s Arnis Šablovskis’ narration that is devoted to 30 years of the fighters for freedom Gunārs Astra (1931–1988) second conviction and the „Last said word” in the court.

In 1983 Gunārs Astra was brave enough to be one of the first persons, who invited people, when we went to the Soviet prison for the second time: „I believe that this time will disappear as a bad nightmare. This gives me strength to stand here and to breathe. Our nation has suffered a lot and therefore has learned and will get through this dark time.”

Arnis Šablovskis will be speaking in the RLS House, in Merķeļa Street 13, 2nd floor, room 301, on 2 December, 2013 at 18.00.
