RIGA LATVIAN SOCIETY INVITES TO THE PROJECT’S “UNITY IS OUR STRENGTH” OPEN TABLE DUSCUSSION
„Integration of children from different nationalities by acquiring traditional culture”

On Tuesday, April 14, at 16.00 we invite everyone to the open table discussion - „Integration of children from different nationalities by acquiring traditional culture” that will take place in the Riga Latvian Society House Fireplace Hall (Merķeļa Street 13).

In the open table discussion „Integration of children from different nationalities by acquiring traditional culture” will participate the Riga Latvian Society Folklore Commission’s “Sprīdītis’ School” events’ most active participants – teachers, who in several years’ time have participated in and promoted the improvement of “Sprīdītis’ School” event programme. These teachers will share their experience in cooperation with “Sprīdītis’ School”, as well as about the opportunities of informal education in schools to promote integration of different nationalities’ children, stimulate acquiring of folklore with children participation and develop cooperation with folklore specialists and bright personalities in traditional culture sphere. With their own experience, conclusions and benefits will share also the pupils from older classes, who have acquired “Sprīdītis’ School” themes connected with folklore many years ago and have cooperated with children from other nationalities.

„Sprīdītis’ School” teachers will tell about their practice and ideas in development of cooperation for future informal education improvement in the RLS Folklore Commission.

With the help of the discussion, based on positive experience of teachers, older class pupils and “Sprīdītis’ School” teachers, we will update the project’s “Unity is Our Strength” (grant contract No. 2013.EEZ/PP/2/MIC/010/028) aims - to promote intercultural dialogue and minority integration, strengthen understanding of human rights, national identity and democratic values.
